Panagiotis Tomaras
Panagiotis Tomaras is a visual and multimedia artist, lighting designer and music producer. He specialises in AV performances, projection mapping and atmospheric light designs using a variety of analog and digital media.
He has presented personal and collaborative work in new media festivals, art galleries, theatres and concert venues such as the CTM festival (Berlin) , iMapp Festival (Bucharest), ArtScience Museum (Singapore), Rough Trade (New York), Video Mapping Festival (Lille), Sadler's Wells (London), Athens International Film Festival (Athens), Greek National Opera Stavros Niarchos (Athens), Eye Film Museum (Netherlands), Onassis Stegi Cultural Center (Athens), Kraftwerk Berlin (Berlin), Athens and Epidaurus Festival (Athens), Photo Biennale (Thessaloniki).
Among others, he has collaborated with the choreographer Russell Maliphant in numerous dance theatre works, the opera director Francesco Micheli and the multimedia researcher Chris Salter. The period of 2013 - 2021 he was the visual designer and line up member of the British electronic music group Clock DVA. He has released his own music under the monikers Ηχοτοπία (Ixotopia), Κυματική Αθηνών (Kymatiki Athinon) and Ψυχοτέκ (psyxotek).
Tomaras has created commissioned work for theatre, opera, dance and advertising, participating and winning awards in several competitions, such as the ADAF Video Mapping Competition, iMapp Festival, Lunar Festival of Lights, Cosmolights Video Mapping Contest, Athens International Film Festival and Oslo screen Festival.
Selection of his photographic work is part of the Greek Museum of Photography collection.
